About me

Introducing Paul Broesmith

I’m Paul Broesmith, a Derby-based theatre-maker, arts facilitator, and creative collaborator. My work sits where story meets people: research-led, holistically-informed, and built through collaboration, play, and practical care.

My process begins with a specific question, which leads to testing ideas through hands-on research and development. From there, I co-create with the project's intended community to shape work that helps people feel seen, heard, and proud of their own stories. The final outcome may take the form of a performance, event, or exhibition, but the objective is always to foster connection, confidence, and shared meaning. I am particularly focused on amplifying the voices of unsung heroes.

My background spans acting, directing, teaching, leadership and event management, alongside therapeutic approaches including HICAT and CBT. That mix lets me support both the creative process and the people inside it.

I’m also a martial artist, and I bring physicality into my practice, from stage and screen combat to embodied storytelling. My work has been seen on stage and on screen. I’m a member of the Derby Creative Arts Network, the Institute of Martial Arts and Sciences, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

TESTIMONIALS

What They Say About My Work

Paul's creative and professional approach is evident in his inventive use of multi-art and performance techniques. He skillfully blends traditional and contemporary elements, offering a refreshing perspective that resonates with both established and new audiences.

Paul's impact has been especially significant in areas of low cultural engagement, where his workshops have brought new energy and enthusiasm to library spaces… Paul empowers participants to express themselves, build confidence, and develop a sense of belonging within their community.
